CoreFit Member Highlight: Lydia Woodward

Occupation: I am currently working full-time as a mom, soul-searcher, and job-seeker. I was laid off in September from a 12-year career and am excited to have the opportunity to move in a new direction. 
 
From: I was born in Michigan but grew up in Sumner, WA.
 
When did you start coming to CoreFit? October 2015
 
Why did you start coming to CoreFit? One of the big wind storms had caused major power outages across Spokane. I enjoyed workouts at Jazzercise but the power was out. My sister-in-law, Kathrane, encouraged me to come with her to CoreFit to just get a workout done and see what I thought. It was enough to sign up for a trial, and then I was hooked. (But I had to get used to counting my own reps!)
 
Who is your greatest fitspiration and why? I am inspired by everyone I have met at CoreFit. If I had to single anyone out though, I’d say Kathrane and Cindi.  
  Kathrane – She can teach numerous Jazzercise classes and still have energy for CoreFit workouts too. She amazes me with how much she gets done and inspires me all the time.
  Cindi – Well, let’s just say I want to grow up to be like Cindi! I love her story, her positive attitude and sheer determination. 
 
What is your next fitness goal? Someday I want to be able to do monkey bars, but that’s not a ‘next goal’.. so I just want to work on more running and grip strength. I really want to complete a Spartan trifecta next year.  
 
Favorite workout song? I love the older Metallica, Linkin Park, AC/DC, and pretty much any familiar tunes with a good beat. I also appreciate songs like ‘Don’t let me down’ by the Chainsmokers. 
 
When you are in the heat of the workout and feel like quitting, you think… I listen to our trainers – and I hear the support and encouragement they provide to all of us. If they say I can do it, it must be possible. 
 
What has been your biggest accomplishment at CoreFit so far? Surviving my first Spartan Sprint in August 2016, then feeling stronger through my second in August 2017. (2018 will be even better.)
 
What is your biggest dietary weakness? Fresh flour tortillas.
 
Favorite part about CoreFit? I love how supportive everyone is, no matter what stage you are in or abilities you possess. Every person is working on their own journey and goals. I appreciate that I can trust the directions and knowledge provided by the trainers. 
 
If you could sit down to lunch with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would you choose to have lunch with and why?  I would want a chance to visit with my Grampa who passed away when I was in 8th grade. 
 
How has coming to CoreFit influenced the rest of your life?  I am more confident and willing to try physical challenges, but also more aware of how sharing (through check-ins especially) can encourage others in their own life. 
 
What is a motto or saying that you live your life by? Everything happens for a reason. 
 
What are your main hobbies outside of CoreFit? I like solving puzzles and playing games, as well as making things (sewing, scrapbooking, even playing with Legos with my girl). 
 
Favorite workout/exercise? Least favorite? Favorite would be bench and snatches (once I figured it out!). As for my least favorite, I know better- never fails that whatever I say I don’t like shows up in the next WOD. 
 
If you could have all the money in the world, how would you spend your days? I would completely update our house and travel all over the world. Oh, and I would make sure Nora’s college education was paid for… as long as she didn’t want to be a Cougar. 😉
 
Favorite Restaurant? Sante, but I have only been a few times. I also love Carouso’s (and have been there more often). 
 
What has been your top memory at CoreFit to date? Making it with help over the wall. I didn’t think it was possible, but they proved me wrong again!
