When did you start coming to CoreFit? May 2015 for the summer slim down
Why did you start coming to CoreFit?
Cindi kept raving about Corefit to me and told me to join. I was stubborn and told her I wasn’t so sure about this place but I wasn’t being challenged enough at the gym I was going to so I reluctantly joined for the slim down and the rest is history.
Who is your greatest fitspiration and why?
I can’t chose just one person. Everyone at Corefit is my fitspirstion. They all keep me going.
What is your next fitness goal?
I would love it if I could master unassisted pull ups. Even just 1. I also think qualifying for the Boston Marathon is on the horizon. And doing the Seattle to Portland bike ride in one day.
Favorite workout song?
Levels by Avicii. I love the electronic type of music. It really pumps me up.
When you are in the heat of the workout and feel like quitting, you think…
Everything hurts and I’m dying. Just kidding. I think, “this sucks….but quitting would suck more so I better get my $hit together and keep going.” Then I break the workout into 1 minute chunks and then I think to myself that I can do anything for 1 minute and then before I know it, it’s over.
What has been your biggest accomplishment at CoreFit so far? Learning to climb the rope!
What is your biggest dietary weakness?
Oh my word. Everything. Pizza and sweet potato fries are my favorite. Apple fritters are pretty dangerous as well. And fancy cheeses and bread. I can never just eat one of something and be done. I eat it till it’s gone.
Favorite part about CoreFit?
The people I have met. I am lucky to be able to work out with a group of people from various walks of life who all share a common goal of fitness as a part of life. The Corefit crew is my second family. I like being challenged and I like the feeling of accomplishing a really intense workout that seems impossible to finish.
If you could sit down to lunch with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would you choose to have lunch with and why?
Chrissy Wellington is my idol. She is a former professional triathlete and 4 time ironman world champion. I read her book a handful of years ago called A Life Without Limits and she is the person who inspired me to do an ironman. I would sit down with her and pick her brain about training and her road to Kona.
How has coming to CoreFit influenced the rest of your life?
My entire life is different. I am healthier, happier, and more fit. I have learned so much about myself here. I came into this gym not even knowing how to bench press let alone how to power clean and now I can climb ropes, do kipping pull ups and show the air dyne who is boss.
What is a motto or saying that you live your life by?Enjoy the journey. I even have it tattooed on my leg.
What are your main hobbies outside of CoreFit?
Pretty much all things outside-triathlons, hiking, trail running, camping, skiing in the winter, playing tennis. I also love to cook and play with Dakota.
Favorite workout/exercise? Least favorite?
Favorite workout/exercise: any workout on the Airdyne. Least favorite workout/exercise: Plate pushes. Those things are the devil.
If you could have all the money in the world, how would you spend your days?
Traveling around the world doing races wherever I go! I would make sure one of my stops is a beach in Bali..sipping on a drink with a little mini umbrella getting my feet rubbed sounds dreamy.
I have to chose one? That’s tough. I would have to say Republic Pi. Because… pizza and pi bites.
What has been your top memory at CoreFit to date?
My top memories since I can’t pick just one would have to be recently during WOD week-PRing my mile at 6:43 and running Perry Street Stairs in 29 minutes. I’ve come a long way with my running. The other is completing a Spartan trifecta last year.
