CoreFit Member Highlight- Tanis Corder Nieman
Occupation: National Sales Manager
From: Anchorage, Alaska
When did you start coming to CoreFit?: March 2015
Why did you start coming to CoreFit? I did the fitness games with a CoreFit member (Maureen Kohler) and during the fitness games Kurt took the time to explain and talk us through a few of the challenges. I was so surprised he went out of is way to help “me”, someone he didn’t know at the time and thought it was one of the most generous things. Prior to the games, Cindi and Kasey often mentioned CoreFit and told me it would be perfect for me. Turns out…. they were right!!
Who is your greatest fitspiration and why? I would say Diane Eve and Michael Southworth, because I am always chasing them :). Also, Cindi John because of her strength and motivation. Lastly, Jessica Dingwall and Alicia Carlson, because they always make it look so easy!!
What is your next fitness goal? I would like to run our last Spartan races of the year feeling fully prepared, lighter and faster. AND CLIMB THE WALL by myself!!!
Favorite workout song? Crazy Train and More Human than a Human – because for some reason, they really get me moving.
When you are in the heat of the workout and feel like quitting, you think… “Who is my rabbit?” and “you only have so much time to finish this thing, so get moving…..” Both of those, usually make me move faster.
What has been your biggest accomplishment at CoreFit so far? Geez, there are so many. Can I list more than one? I have upper body strength and can do 3 pullups… no band…. woohoo! I think my biggest accomplishment is really understanding my limits/fears (mentally and physically) and pushing through them.
What is your biggest dietary weakness? Well, we all know the answer to this….. Nachos!!!!
Favorite part about CoreFit? There are, of course, many favorite things for me. The knowledge and dedication of the trainers and CoreFit Team. The community/family. I have made so many wonderful friends at CoreFit that I know will be in my life for a very long time. I could go on…
If you could sit down to lunch with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would you choose to have lunch with and why? My Grandma….. Because I miss her terribly and I have so much to tell her.
How has coming to CoreFit influenced the rest of your life? It has helped me become the person I knew I could become. Since coming to CoreFit, I have gained confidence, strength, patience and motivation to be the best that I can everyday.
What is a motto or saying that you live your life by? i am sure my family would agree that it is: “I do what I want”
What are your main hobbies outside of CoreFit? I travel for work regularly and don’t have a ton of time for fun things so I would say Spartan races, trail running, and, of course, golf.
Favorite workout/exercise? Least favorite? Favorite = Wall Balls / Least Favorite = Bucket Carry
If you could have all the money in the world, how would you spend your days? Hmmmmm… That is really hard to imagine… Travel. Golf. Volunteer. Workout. Cook. Hang out with the Husband.
Favorite Restaurant? Wild Sage
What has been your top memory at CoreFit to date? So many awesome memories……. I would say the Washougal Spartan Race last year. It was one of the funnest experiences I have had and loved every minute of it. I still have the best memory of seeing Cindi sliding through the mud moguls laughing….. makes me smile every time I think of it.
